We want a beautiful form to invite these questions, not distract from them.
Facts and meaning, kept distinct.
Materials, origin and making belong to the facts of an individual piece. Symbolism belongs to its cultural context and to the meaning a person may find in it.
Respect begins with context.
Chinese philosophical and religious traditions are not one interchangeable visual vocabulary. A contemporary reference does not imply a temple connection, ritual authority or a historical lineage.
